Well, I never thought it could be possible, but as I casually pumped gas into my car this morning the thought began to crawl up the back of my neck. Puerto Rico sells gas by the liter and currently the price for regular gas is going from $ 0.97 to 1.04 (more or less) per liter. Suddenly the neurons in my brain began to fire restlessly… Wait just one minute; doesn’t a bottle of water cost $1.00? And isn’t that about 16 to 20 oz. of water? Yes! 16 oz of water cost $1.00; and there are exactly 33.8140227 oz in 1 liter. Therefore, 33.81 oz. of gas cost $1.04 and the same amount of bottled water would be about $2.00 (since 16 x 2 = 32). It’s ridiculous!!!
Yes people. It is undeniable: Gas is cheaper than water! WTF!?!?!?!? Oh! And apparently cheaper than beer as well. (10 oz. of local beer = $1.25 vs. 33 oz. of gas for $1.04). Perhaps we should drink the gas instead…
